French footwear designer Christian Louboutin has entered the world of beauty with the debut of his nail polish line, Rouge Louboutin. With the help of filmmaker David Lynch, the two developed a minute-long movie that introduces viewers to the planet Loubiville, where bottles of luxe nail polish fall from the sky.
In 1992, Louboutin used his assistants nail lacquer to transform a pair of black soles into what would be become his iconic red bottoms. It is only natural that the designer come full circle, with his signature shade of red driving the new collection of 20 polishes.
The presentation of his line is a piece of art in itself. The cap is modeled after his Ballerina Ultima, the tallest heeled shoe he has ever designed, standing at 8 inches. It also shares the same shape and weight as a calligraphy pen, to give women a truly artistic experience. The handcrafted glass bottle is inspired by the classical balustrades in European buildings during the 17th and 18th centuries.
