Ember by LUNAR Suprises, Delights, Inspires and Provokes at ICFF
LUNAR challenged Ember designer Junggi Sung to reflect upon a common object, and use the power of design to craft an aesthetic statement. His inspiration was a warm, bright camp fire at the beach…brought into the home. A clever mechanism allows for the analogue adjustment of light intensity and spread. The four light bars slide independently within the wooden housing. The further out the user slides the bars, the more light is revealed and spread throughout the room. From a humble glow to a roaring blaze, temper the release of the light to fit the moment. The Ember light plays with simple form and delightful detail.
Ember is made of reclaimed hardwood, uses LED light, and operates on 10V Power Plug or AAA battery, all of which make it astoundingly ecofriendly!
[ Design according to LUNAR ]
Design is meant to surprise, delight, inspire, and provoke. It allows us to manifest a point of view and impact how people experience the world. To keep the poetic minds of our designers engaged we find it useful—necessary, in fact—to tease out the elemental powers of creative expression through conceptual exploration. One approach to this exercise is to reflect upon a common object, and use the power of design to craft an aesthetic statement. As an internal exercise, this project is meant to rethink how one lights their home. As our moods or activities change, shouldn’t the ambient lighting change as well?
