ROGAN combines soulful minimalism with traditional quality and craftsmanship. The design driven collection for men and women is focused on innovative construction and fabrication – rooted in timeless American utilitarian style.

The ROGAN Fall 2009 design vision remains fixed on soulful minimalism, the consistent inconsistency of textured geometric shapes, coupled with functional simplicity and refined construction. Themes of asymmetry and elongation of silhouette perpetuate the ROGAN obsession with proportion and balance. The color palette is black, white, and grey with the spare use of winter pastels – fluorite, soda, and flint.

Men’s offering for fall 2009 focuses on classic separates with clever details. Staples like the ‘Scaler’ peacoat, ‘Alvar’ blazer, and ‘Axiom’ shirt are crafted with attention to seam, closure, and proportion. Traditional workwear details such as hidden snaps decorate shirts, while waterproof zippers and studded cuff links individualize classic shapes. The constant play between the spiritual and ironic sets the collection apart and is apparent when juxtaposed with the season’s energetic graphics.

The women’s collection is anchored by simple pieces that allow for layering or wearing alone. Loose blouses, open-weave dresses, and oversized sweatshirts lend to various interpretations. The ‘Parallel’ long coat, ‘Trion’ turtle neck and ‘Bruno’ top in tencel, have stacked sleeves which suggest an optical illusion of length and have a soft sculptural feel. Leather adds a strong yet feminine dynamic to the offering. The ‘Ariel’ skirt – a leather mini with soft pleating – flatters and the ‘Amplitude’ bomber – a shrunken leather jacket with exaggerated ribbing at the wrist and waistband – elongate and compliment the wearer. Artful details such as pleating, diagonal seams, and asymmetry give the collection its knack as well as its function. Pleating plays into the architectural nature of the season’s silhouette as well as hides pockets and masks closures.
