Carlos Miele’s Recycled Boutique!
Opening today in IguatemiBrazilian fashion designer Carlos Miele’s first signature boutique opens today at Iguatemi, Sao Paulo - and it’s made out of entirely repurposed materials! Featuring vintage Brazilian furniture by Sergio Rodrigues, Miele’s new shop honors the space’s architectural history (originally designed by Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld) while using sustainable and repurposed products to reduce waste and the boutique’s overall carbon footprint. The new boutique occupies two floors, with features including a lighting plan that creates indirect light from both the floor and interior of the walls. As Miele says, “Designers are essentially gatekeepers between raw materials and final products, whether a dress or a chair or an architectural space.”
Miele’s work takes advantage of Brazil’s beautiful handcrafting techniques – too many of which are slowly being fogotten – to make fantastic multi-disciplinary work with a social conscience. Check out pics of Miele in the new shop and more of his latest, oh-so-feminine collection in our slideshow!
