Professor Mel Byars recently returned to his former career in advertising after being appointed the creative director of MechoShade Systems, the innovative WindowManagement™ manufacturer. He continues to write and speak about industrial design, having published more than a dozen books and numerous essays on the subject. Byars is best known for The Design Encyclopedia, which was published by the Museum of Modern Art and recently translated from English to Chinese and Portuguese.

Media artist Alexander Gelman (also known as Gelman or Glmn) has offices in New York, Tokyo, Amsterdam and Rio de Janeiro. His work is included in collections from the Museum of Modern Art in New York to the Bibliothèque National de France in Paris. Challenging the boundaries between art, science, politics and popular culture, his signature is simplicity and starkness that’s rich in conceptual complexity. His bestselling book, Subtraction: Aspects of Essential Design, has been acclaimed a “modern-day classic.”
